It has been forever...

...but I've been doing a lot of reminiscing recently so I expect to be writing some more in the very near future.

Unearthing documents

In the process of trying to find stuff to complete my taxes this year, I found a bunch of old stuff from my time in the dorms and had to share some from this one... Tim and I's roommate contract.
I'm pretty sure we went in there with the full purpose of fucking with our RA, Evan. At some point he picked up on it and began writing down all of the bullshit we were feeding him onto this official university document. He's a few of the good responses...

1. Our room will be kept
a. neat
b. In between
c. messy
Note: As long as messes are separate

14. Guests in our room are allowed to:
a. sit/use each other's bed
b. eat each other's food
c. use each other's personal belongings
d. use each other's computer
Note: porn will be kept in seperate folders for each person

16. If we have issues with each other's personal cleanliness, we will...
"I Will let him know."

18. If a conflict between arises, our plan of action will be...
"double-elimination sack race held on consecutive Sundays until a resolution is come to"

Just thought I'd share...

Our Oracle...

Origins of Nicknames

For many of us that lived at the Village, and for those that did not, crazy and weird nicknames developed Some made sense, some...well...come from late nights, drunk stories, or plain love of certain things (like chocolate chip cookies) here are a few off the top of my head-stories pertaining to origins should come at a later date...
Lew - Lucifer, Lewisifer, Brad,Abortion hole *once again political incorrectness comes with the territory*, and Gaius Sentis Lupus
Dan - Lunchbox, Silent Bob, Rocky, Darkone, im forgetting a lot of explicit ones, but they are more general
Jacob -Jesus...pretty much it
Suzie (that's me!) -Gay (as in happy) Robot, Softbatch, The Muse, Floozy Suzie, and Scrappy Doo
Jay - The Muscly Armed Delivery boy, Jiggy, Jiggy Fly (blame Tim)
Tim- (he has a lot, mostly given to him, by him) T-Money, Timmy, Timmers, Timmy Timmy Tuskaninny, T-Mobile (for example), The Mechanic, and once again there are more...
Rubley- Thats it, nothing else..once in awhile Ginger
Barb- The Goddess
Gregory- Well Gregory..his real name is Jim..also Couch fucker, Jolly Green Giant...

This is just some of the many nicknames that are more commonly used. Some are so ingrained that we forget real names, as with Gregory, who has probably not been called by his actual name since 2002...Que Cera my friends

The theme song of the Village

All I can say is.....

How we came to be known...As the "Village of Sin"

Summer was ending, and Dan, Lew, Jacob, Jay, and Jason had decided to throw a welcome back to BG soiree for all of us who were unfortunate enough to spend their summers at home. The guys had recently moved into a kickass townhouse complex molded especially for college partying; cheaply built, low rent, and a couple hundred students cramped into units. It was anyone wanting a good time with a lower chance of getting in trouble's dream. But I digress.
The night was fairly laid back, and before everyone started showing up, Dan, Jason, Lew, Tim, Barb, and I were playing a laid back round of Hold'Em...kicking back with beer (for those over 21 of course), and goofing around. Everyone else was hanging around watching t.v., etc.
Before the real festivities started,a prodigal friend dropped in. Alex was his name, and the year before he was deep in our fold of infamy, then he found God and became a born-again Christian. In his mind that meant that he was to cast our friendships aside for more God-fearing individuals; needless to say his dropping in was a surprise. As he made his entrance, finding us gambling, drinking, swearing, and continuing our usual dirty conversations about sex, porn, the Pokey on a Cross (yes, a stuffed Pokey doll mounted on a wooden cross on the wall; we didn't claim to be good people here). He bellowed, Hey guys! How is everyone doing here in this denizen of sin. Meant as an insult, we all kept our mouths shut during this brief visit from our newly made christian friend who made continued insults to our ungodly lifestyles (which insulted some of us who were raised in strict christian homes), this meant that the moment he left; Lew and I began to vent, and poke fun at the insults. (We are horrible people when around one another) We started to joke about how he called us a denizen of sinners, and then we said we were more like a Village...The Village of Sin?? I then went and made a Big Ass Cardboard Sign that said "Welcome to the Village of Sin", complete with flames, and stick figures of people burning...and there began our two year stint at #60 C.H....otherwise known as The Village of Sin

How to start...?

I'm still not sure how to completly answer the question, so I'll go with this. There are really two definitions for the Village of Sin. Physically, the Village of Sin was the townhouse that I, along with a lineup of four others, lived in for the last two years of my undergraduate studies. Those who also lived there (and who you'll read more about later on) were Jacob, Jason, Jay, Lew, and Susie. There were also plenty of people who are also included because they were always there, which leads to the other definition. The Village of Sin is also the collective of friends that was initially formed in 2002, in most of our freshman years while living in Darrow Hall on the campus of BGSU. Over the years, the group has expanded and contracted with the addition of newbies and the departure of people moving on to bigger and better things but always remain in contact and in memory. We have no membership roll, no club ID's, no member dues, and the only "initiation" may only involve buying rounds at the bar. This blog is intended to be the written chronicle of the stories of some of the best times in our lives.

A Masterful Introduction

In a tradition that I began about three years ago, I write while I am at work. This is a blog history of a group of friends whose journey began years ago as college students and continues to this day in a great many aspects of life. The core of this group was formed nearly six years ago with many joining along the way. These are the words of that group, that forever will be known in an overblown and hyper-dramatic form, as the Village of Sin.
